I admit it. I love Pinterest! It’s my digital Christmas catalogue. Stimulating my imagination. Inspiring me to beautify my home, the world and myself.
Thanks to Pinterest and HGTV. It is now cool to do it yourself. Skills the Proverbs 31 woman uses to her and her family’s advantage.
She makes for herself coverlets, cushions, and rugs of tapestry. Her clothing is of linen pure and fine, and of purple such as that of which the clothing of the priests and the hallowed cloths of the temple were made. (Proverbs 31:22)
Maintaining your personal appearance and your home’s requires time, planning and perseverance. A tall order but doable.
If you learn to say, “NO!”
Will it be easy?
NO!
You will need to
- overcome people pleasing tendencies.
- accept the fact people will be disappointed, even angry.
- develop a thick skin when it comes to gossip and slander.
- no longer justify your worthiness by what you do for others, or what others think of you.
Who you are in Christ must become the cornerstone of your identity.
I promise you. Your life will never be the same again!
Relationships will change. Some may even end. No longer being at others beck and call has a way of doing that.
Hobbies and leisure activities will be modified. Some may even go by the wayside.
Volunteering whenever and wherever there is a need will no longer be an option. By being more selective. Neither your time nor your generosity will be abused.
Overtime your perpetual “to do” list will disappear. Where once exhaustion and resentment reigned. Peace and wisdom will go with you.
Take it from this former people pleaser. The day I made the decision to stop was one of the hardest and proudest moments of my life!
I’ve NEVER regretted it!
Neither will you!
Be a VOICE in the deafening sound of sameness!
