Each new year brings renewed hope. The promise of…
Overcoming vices, weaknesses, failures.
Bringing to fruition long anticipated dreams.
Maintaining healthy relationships.
But then the circumstances of life decide to erect roadblocks. Slamming the door of hope and opening the door of…
Disappointment.
Discouragement.
Delay.
You’re left wondering.
Why did this happen?
Who’s to blame?
When will it end?
What do I do now?
Who you run to for answers and help will ultimately determine whether you get behind the wheel again and continue your journey or remain lost and disillusioned.
Seeking rescue from the world is futile. It’s offer of temporal help is fleeting and weak because it never instills resilience or steadfastness.
Only the Gospel of Christ has that power because of its eternal wisdom.
Christ alone is worthy to be obeyed and worshiped.
Remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of Him during your time here as “temporary residents.”
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. It was not paid with mere gold or silver which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose Him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days He has been revealed for your sake.
Through Christ you have come to trust in God. You have placed your faith and hope in God because He raised Christ from the dead and gave Him great glory. 1 Peter 1:17-21
An eternal, not temporal mindset must be your compass as you navigate the nuances of life.
Do not store up for yourselves material treasures on earth. Where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart, your wishes, your desires, that on which your life centers will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Papa will grace you to overcome and persevere if you trust Him and His ways.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become tired or grow weary. There is no searching of His understanding. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who has no might He increases power.
Even youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, But those who wait for the Lord. Who expect, look for, and hope in Him will gain new strength and renew their power. They will lift up their wings and rise up close to God like eagles rising toward the sun. They will run and not become weary. They will walk and not grow tired. Isaiah 40:28-31
Renew your mind— think like Papa, not the world.
Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice— the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
Jesus and the early Church lived amidst turmoil and unpredictability. Violent revolts, uprisings, crime and Roman oppression characterized the time period. Yet, hope reigned because of the Gospel. The promise of a regenerated heart and an immortal body sustained people during this turbulent time period.

It has the power to do so today!
