Did you make a New Years Revolution to…
lose weight?
eat healthy?
exercise more?
Many Americans are concerned about their health, and they should be!
“More than one-third (36.5%) of U.S. adults have obesity. [Read CDC National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) data brief PDF-704KB]
Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, some of the leading causes of preventable death. [Read guidelines]
The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the U.S. was $147 billion in 2008 U.S. dollars; the medical costs for people who are obese were $1,429 higher than those of normal weight. [Read summary]”
“More than half of what Americans eat is ultra-processed. The average American man has a body mass index just barely under the medical definition of obese. In a 2013 ranking of affluent countries’ health, the United States came in last.
Less than 3 percent of Americans meet the basic qualifications for a healthy lifestyle, according to a new study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings. The study authors defined a healthy lifestyle as one that met four qualifications:
Moderate or vigorous exercise for at least 150 minutes a week
A diet score in the top 40 percent on the Healthy Eating Index
A body fat percentage under 20 percent (for men) or 30 percent (for women)
Not smoking”
These are alarming statistics!
I like many of you are making an effort to live healthier. For the past few years I have been seeking the Lord’s wisdom about my health. The baby steps I have taken have resulted in weight loss and increased physical stamina.
But once again it is time to repent.
I was convicted by the Holy Spirit last week to change my diet and detox. To allow by body to heal from decades of food abuse.
Although my diet has improved, it is not what it should be. Processed sugar IS NOT one of the major food groups, and soda must be permanently deleted.
Both have been staples of my adult life.
Thankfully, I complied and began the preparation for a 26-day detox. Beginning this weekend.
What I find amazing. Once I repented. The desire for sweets and soda was gone. I have not consumed either for three days.
The Lord is faithful!
I am excited about the new me that will be at the end of the 26 days. I will be healthier and free of food addictions. Exemplifying 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Who comes from God and dwells inside of you. You do not own yourself. You have been purchased at a great price, so use your body to bring glory to God!
AMEN!
