I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Does not sound much like today’s America, does it? Where the divide on many fronts is approaching Grand Canyon status.
Political ideologies.
Religious affiliation.
Social-economic status.
Sexual orientation.
Ethnicity and cultural behaviors.
Gender roles.
Mental illness treatment.
Opposing argument supporters slinging words of hate and judgmentalism. Flaming the fires of bigotry and discrimination.
In an America were diversity is not honored but often belittled. Stereotyping reigns supreme.
One-sidedly establishing the perimeters for what is socially acceptable.
Identifying individuals as them or us.
Condoning humiliating and degrading individuals perceived as weak or different.
This inability or unwillingness to accept people unconditionally births judgment, condemnation, prejudice and discrimination.
As a disciple of Christ, we must continually remind ourselves. In God’s Kingdom there are no second-class citizens. All are made in the image of God. To unilaterally reject someone is to reject God’s nature.
When we stop judging others as superior, equal or inferior. Then, and only then will authentic and loving relationships become a reality.
Therefore, be imitators of God as beloved children. Walk in love as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us. A fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2
When we are able to see individuals and the earth not in its current condition but as God intends. Then we will be the light of justice that this wicked world desperately seeks.
