Are you a rat on a sinking ship?
Expending valuable energy pursuing the dreams of others?
Blindly seeking purpose?
Foolishly chasing the pleasures of life?
Lost in the maze of life because of self-defeating paradigms?
Living your life by trial and error?
Thankfully, you do not have to go down with the ship. You have a choice.
Either remain a prisoner of sin.
OR
Step over the line of salvation into freedom. Acknowledge and confess with your lips Jesus is Lord.
Believing in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead is only the beginning.
Salvation is NOT a one-time event. It is an ongoing, evolutionary process.
Sadly, many Christians never experience the fullness of their salvation. Refusing to believe that a disciple of Christ is an honor and privilege. Demanding one’s undying devotion.
As a devout disciple of Christ, you are to work hard to show the results of your salvation. Obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you. Giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. Philippians 2:12-13
Do not be afraid of anything your enemies do. Your faithfulness and courage are a sign of their coming destruction and your salvation. Which is from God. Philippians 1:28
While Jesus was here on earth He offered prayers and pleadings with a loud cry and tears to the One who could rescue Him from death. God heard His prayers because of His deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God’s Son. He learned obedience from the things He suffered. Hebrews 5:7-8
Yes, as a follower of Christ there will be times of suffering. Pain. Uncertainty. Hopelessness. Do not be misled by those who would have you believe that once you become a Christian. You will no longer encounter the woes of life. Nothing could be further from the truth that Jesus taught and lived.
Do not fear! With the Lord’s gift of salvation also comes this promise from Jesus.
In Me, you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration but be of good cheer. Take courage. Be confident. Certain. Undaunted! For I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you. John 16:33
But instead of clinging to this promise in times of trouble, many Christians surrender to selfish desires. Spawning self-destructive behaviors. Something Gomer knew all too well.
Gomer’s story proves no one is beyond redemption. God’s salvation is not exclusive. All are welcome, regardless of their sinful past or present.
Come back next week. Be encouraged by Gomer and Hosea’s story!
Be a VOICE shouting in the wilderness.
“CHRIST is returning!”
