For many of us, being judged by others and told you are wrong is paramount to a declaration of war. Your brain goes into attack mode. While your heart slams the door shut.
Judgment guarantees alienation!
And Christians wonder why the world hates us when we judge them.
Yes, you are to judge behaviors and paradigms as sinful or not.
Yes, you are to speak God’s truth when it comes to sin.
It is always to be done in love! What if I speak in the most elegant languages of people or in the exotic languages of the heavenly messengers, but I live without love? Well then, anything I say is like the clanging of brass or a crashing cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1
Until Christians lovingly interact with nonbelievers. The message of the Gospel and their testimonies of God’s love will continue to be rejected.
Eloquent words, a seminary degree or a title does not make your witness powerful. It is a heart totally surrendered to Jesus. Compassionately extending the love of God in word or deed to the lost, the hurting and those imprisoned by sin.
Christians need to follow this advice of the Apostle Paul. Be wise when you engage with those outside the faith community. Make the most of every moment and every encounter. When you speak the word. Speak it gracefully. So you will know how to respond to everyone rightly. Colossians 4:5-6
Jesus ALWAYS spoke God’s truth. Not mincing words when it came to sin.
I tell you the truth. Everyone who commits sin surrenders his freedom to sin. He is a slave to sin’s power. John 8:34
Thankfully, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 Jesus came down from heaven to live amongst us. Proclaiming to the world.
I’m not here to call those already in good standing with God. I’m here to call sinners to turn back to Him. Mark 2:17
As followers of Christ we are to do likewise. But this will never be accomplished by maliciously attacking an individual’s character.
Instead of finger pointing, Christians would be wise to heed these words of Jesus.
Do not judge others self-righteously, and you will not be judged.
Do not condemn others when you are guilty and unrepentant, and you will not be condemned for your hypocrisy.
Pardon others when they truly repent and change, and you will be pardoned when you truly repent and change.
Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure. Pressed down, shaken together and running over with no space left for more. For with the standard of measurement you use when you do good to others. It will be measured to you in return.
Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice or consider the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother? ‘Brother, allow me to take out the speck that is in your eye.’ When you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, play actor, pretender. First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye. Luke 6:37-38 and 41-42
Be a VOICE shouting into the wilderness.
“CHRIST is returning!”
