There was a time when a person’s word was golden. Contracts, notary publics and lawyers were few and far between. Not true today.
No longer surprised when a politician, athlete, celebrity, minister or corporation is exposed for unethical or criminal behavior. Americans have accepted such behavior as a way of life, not an anomaly.
People cannot to be trusted.
This is why I like many others are wary of what others say. Judging their character by their deeds, not their words. Knowing many make promises— vows only to
- appease others.
- make the individual or others look good.
- deceive.
- inflict harm and pain upon others.
Today, I celebrate you whose word is golden.
Who make promises you intend to keep.
Who say no instead of yes.
Who understand that a promise is to be fulfilled no matter what.
Who walk the talk.
