There comes a time when everyone who calls themselves a Christian must decide. Will I unconditionally allow the Lord total access to my life?

I answered this question fourteen years ago when I asked the Lord to remove from my life and me everything that was not His best for me. Sometimes I wonder if I would have had the courage to ask this if I knew beforehand what it would demand.

Becoming who the Lord created you to be involves disciplined training. In much the same way as you use weights to strengthen muscles in your physical body. The Lord uses His Word and trials to strengthen your heart.

Muscle growth is one of those anomalies that defies logic. By a process called micro-trauma. Muscle is damaged by micro-tears. It is actually the healing of these micro-tears that creates stronger muscles.

The Lord uses a similar process to strengthen you spiritually. Let’s call it spiritual micro-trauma. First He tears down strongholds— ungodly thought patterns. Then He replaces them with His righteousness— way of thinking. Transforming you from a spiritual weakling into a spiritual giant.

I learned that this process is painful and challengingly. I had to learn to say

  • no to logic and yes to impossibility.
  • no to certainty and yes to unpredictability.
  • no to control and yes to submission.
  • no to acceptance and yes to solitude.
  • no to comfort and yes to sacrifice.
  • no to timidity and yes to boldness.
  • no to pleasing man and yes to obeying God’s commandments.

Yes, I wish over the years my spiritual training program could have been less grueling. But would I change anything? No!

I now understand what Job meant when he said. “I had only heard about You before, but now I have seen You with my own eyes.”

Be a VOICE in the deafening sound of sameness!

Be a VOICE shouting in the silence. Lets love others!
