It is March. So spring is just over the horizon here in North Texas. After this wet, cold and dreary winter it will be welcomed with open arms and hearts.
Spring’s promise of longer days, sun and warmth reminds us of the beauty of beginnings— a new life. Motivating us to embrace change. Assuring us nothing is impossible.
Synonymous with spring is spring-cleaning. Heavy duty cleaning and organizing most people do to some degree each spring. Taking an inventory of their personal belongings. Deciding what will stay, and what will go. Getting one’s affairs in order.
Not one to wait for spring to de-clutter and organize. I periodically take an inventory of not only my personal possessions but also my life. These are the two fundamental questions I ask myself.
How can I simplify my life and spend more time doing what brings me joy and fulfillment?
Do I need to say no so I can say yes only to those individuals or activities I need in this season of my life?
I then devise an action plan. It must be simple and easily implemented. Making consistency easier. Guaranteeing positive results— transformation.
By embracing transformation I have learned.
- Building a life of significance and fulfillment is MY responsibility. Others may help but at the end of the day. It is MY life.
- I must unapologetically take control of MY time and priorities.
- Life sometimes sucks, but I always have a choice. Will I allow circumstances or people to derail me, or will I forge ahead? Knowing the Lord has a good plan for MY life.
For the past fourteen years I have chosen the latter, and it has made all the difference in MY life.
