Love one another as Jesus has loved us.

Leave the Porch Light OnBack in November of 2013 I wrote a post about Louie, my daughter’s cat. Who attempts to escape from the house whenever someone opens a door. Something he did a few weeks ago. Unlike before the consequence was more severe than a scolding. A car struck Louie, and he was injured. The lacerations have healed, but the neurological damage to his right front leg has not. As soon as my daughter raises the funds it will be amputated.

Have you ever made the wrong decision more than once? Never learning from your mistake? Suffering an even more severe consequence?

What is it about us humans? Believing we can continue to live life on our own terms. With no regard for others or the negative consequences our decisions have personally and for others.

Submission is not easy because of an inherent need in each of us to be independent and self-sufficient. Both are admirable and necessary under certain circumstances. However, in your relationship with the Lord it is detrimental. The Lord is sovereign and a consuming fire— a jealous God. He refuses to be treated as a second-class citizen. Not only demanding your undying love but also your allegiance.

Like Louie I once foolishly roamed around in the dark, oblivious to the danger. Numbing my pain and feeding my desires, regardless of the consequences. Refusing the safety that was mine if I would abandon my reckless ways and return to my Papa’s loving arms.

Thankfully, we have a heavenly Father who unconditionally loves His children. No matter how long or what darkness we choose to call home. The Lord always leaves on the porch light. Beaconing us to come out of the cold, cruel darkness into a home filled with warmth and love.

Be a VOICE in the deafening sound of sameness!

Be a VOICE shouting in the darkness. Lets love others!
