How many times have you heard someone praying and soon found yourself daydreaming? Or the religious jargon made the prayer incomprehensible? Or the prayer was barely audible because of the timidity of the one praying?

For many praying is difficult, tedious or daunting, as it once was for me. Now I pray with confidence and boldness. What changed? I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is a loving Daddy— the perfect Daddy.

He is my

  • Protector. Safeguarding me in times of trouble and temptation.

The name of Yahweh is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are protected.

  • Electrician. Illuminating the path leading to my destiny.

Your word is a lamp for my steps. It lights the path before me.

  • Referee. Enforcing His rules for the game of life.

Then you know to take off your former way of life— your crumpled old self— that dark blot of a soul corrupted by deceitful desire and lust. To take a fresh breath and to let God renew your attitude and spirit. Then you are ready to put on your new self. Modeled after the very likeness of God— truthful, righteous, and holy.

  •  Friend. Keeping all His promises.

Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands.

  •  Engineer. Helping me build a life of significance and authenticity.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord gives grace and glory. He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity.

  • Cheerleader. Encouraging me in times of disappointment and distress.

God also bound Himself with an oath. So that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that He would never change His mind. So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

  • Teacher. Revealing His wisdom to His favorite student.

Look, God is all-powerful. Who is a teacher like Him? No one can tell him what to do or say to Him. “You have done wrong.” Instead, glorify His mighty works. Singing songs of praise.

You are the apple of your Daddy’s eye. He sacrificed Jesus so you could call Him Daddy. Allowing His heart to be broken so He could heal yours.

Crawl into your Daddy’s lap and tell Him how much you love Him. Tell Him your hopes and desires. Ask Him for whatever is on your heart.

Do not be afraid or ashamed. Your Daddy loves to hear the prayers of His beloved— YOU!
