Do I want authenticity or image? A question too few people contemplate these days.
There was a time when I despised being a misfit and attempted to assimilate into the sea of anonymity. Nameless faces mindlessly accepting what culture or religion has judged appropriate.
But no matter how hard I tried to suppress my misfitness. It emerged from the shadows of conformity.
Thankfully this ardent lover of Jesus and free spirited child of the 60s embraced who she was. Neither the narrow mindedness of religion or culture would confine her. She would accept her misfitness as a gift from God. Because…
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Are you a VOICE or the sameness?
Thanks for listening to my voice! Feel free to like and share it with your friends.
Have a great day! Rita
Be a VOICE in the deafening sound of sameness!
Excellent. You go girl. And what a great quote. I love, ” Neither the narrow mindedness of religion or culture would confine her.”
🙂
Thanks Stacilys! Day by day I grow more rebellious. Wearied by pretense and self-importance.Anyway… Have a wonderful week Stacilys!
