If you have watched a CSI drama or reality show you know the importance of DNA— the genetic coder in all living cells. Not only is it important in solving crimes. It plays a major role in your physical, mental and emotional development.
Thanks to your parents. Your physical appearance and a predisposition to certain personality traits are a result of the union of their DNA.
If you are unhappy with your physical appearance, you have an array of options— surgery, exercise or cosmetics. You have only a single option when it comes to your personality. You must intentionally change your thought patterns. Yes, you can alter your DNA by the way you think.
In a culture though that loves to play the blame game, assuming personal responsibility for one’s actions and thus one’s life isn’t readily embraced or even encouraged. Why? Transformation is hard work! It requires time, sacrifice and God’s grace.
Transforming your mind requires the removal of ungodly paradigms— thought patterns. The Lord accomplishes this by intentionally allowing you to experience tribulation and temptation so these thought patterns are exposed and expunged.
Trials and tribulations are your heart’s emery board. They smooth away those imperfections that would interfere with you ability to walk in your destiny honorably and honestly. Imperfections such as
- self- centeredness.
- self-consciousness.
- self-criticism.
- self- destruction.
- self-doubt.
- self-pity.
- self- reliance.
The Lord also uses His Truth— Scripture to renew your mind. Therefore, never become lackadaisical or irreverent in your pursuit of the Truth through God’s Word. “If someone responds to and obeys His word, then God’s love has truly taken root and filled him. This is how we know we are in an intimate relationship with Him. Anyone who says, ‘I live in intimacy with Him’, should walk the path Jesus walked.”
More than two thousand years ago the Apostle Paul wrote: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you. Which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Sounds like good advice to me!
