Unconditional love, both divine and human has the power to do what nothing else can— heal broken hearts. What is unconditional love— loving without limits? It’s the transformative love described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn’t envious— doesn’t boast, brag, or strut about. There’s no arrogance in love. It’s never rude, crude, or indecent. It’s not self-absorbed. Love isn’t easily upset. Love doesn’t tally wrongs or celebrate injustice. But truth, yes truth is love’s delight!  Love puts up with anything and everything that comes along. It trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what. Love will never become obsolete. 

Kindness is

• a pleasant disposition.
• a concern to help others by placing their needs above yours.
• an increased sense of connection with others.
• a desire to promote happiness by extending good to others.

Research with babies as young as three months, suggest that that there is an innate preference for nice people over mean people.

Kindness can be cultivated by small changes in perception. Seeing similarities instead of differences. Having an attitude of gratefulness even in the midst of life challenges.

These paradigms create an atmosphere of safety and connection to the beauty and goodness in this world. Resulting in inner calmness, focused thinking and heartfelt love.

Additional benefits of kindness include

• a sense of rightness. Making one grateful to be alive.
• increased immune system.
• improved intellectual performance.
• increase in energy.
• lower heart rate.
• balanced cortisol levels which result in less internal stress.
• more likely to live a longer and more satisfied life.
• diminished pain.

Kindness is powerful because it has a ripple effect. It washes over the giver, the recipient and onlookers. Eventually creating a tsunami of love that no evil can survive.
