Love one another as Jesus has loved us.

6a01157036a7d4970b016766234ddb970bHow many of you have been dissatisfied with customer service? Questions left unanswered. Promises not kept. Rude or disinterested interactions.

There was a time when customer service was your friend, not your adversary. But there was also a time when customers were more patient and understanding. Not taking out their frustrations on the service representative.

Yes, us Americans are impatient and hate being inconvenience. Days overflowing with activity leave little room for unexpected interruptions. Investing precious time solving problems that are not of your own doing is frustrating. Interacting with

individuals who dislike or are not qualified for their job is exasperating.

What’s one to do? How do you behave honorably amidst dishonorable actions?

Maintain a spirit of excellence.

Refuse to react with anger or retaliation. Yes, people and companies should be held accountable, but one can always find a way that doesn’t involve “getting down and dirty”. Take a deep breath and allow your emotions to fade before taking any action.

Maintain a spirit of compassion.

Life isn’t always a bed of roses. Relational problems, unfulfilled dreams, secrets, health issues— the list is endless. Threatening at any moment to destroy your tenuous hold onto normalcy. Remember the worst day of your life. That could be someone’s present day reality.

Maintain a spirit of humility.

As a believer I am continually assessing everything I think, do or say. Does it glorify God? Most of the time it does, but there are times when it doesn’t. So what do I do when I fail to glorify— honor the Lord? I repent. Seek others forgiveness. Gratefully receive the Lord’s grace and wisdom. So I don’t make the same mistake twice.

Yes, living a life of honor in a dishonorable world is possible. You can either come into agreement with the Lord’s Truth.

Live honorably among the outsiders so that even when some may be inclined to call you criminals. When they see your good works. They might give glory to God when He returns in judgment.  1 Peter 2:12 The Voice
