Last Monday I began a series God’s Diet Food. This spiritual food— the fruit of the spirit is God’s divine personality and character traits that lives in believers. So far, love and joy have been served. The third course of this feast is peace.
What comes to mind when the word “peace” is mentioned? Isn’t it usually what it’s not? Peace isn’t war… conflict… fighting… riots… arguments… discord… controversy… tension… strife… confrontation… the absence of unity. As believers, we are to create and maintain Kingdom peace. Peace that isn’t defined by the absence of conflict or chaos but as a state of being… a mindset… a life strategy.
Assured that God is in control. Peace
- encloses you in a cocoon of wholeness, completeness, balance. A tranquility of the soul that is unaffected by outward circumstances or tensions.
- endows you with the skills to make peace between men that is impervious to the destructive schemes of the devil.
- makes you resistant to sin.
- ensures immediate, not delayed obedience.
- increases the authenticity and depth of your relationships.
- destroys hypocrisy, fear, anxiety and worry.
Yes, peace can be yours today because of God’s promises and your obedience.
“We have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand. (Romans 5:1-2 The New Living Translation)
“He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this Truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.” (Colossians 1:15-23 The New Living Translation)
“God will repay each person according to what they have done. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good. For God does not show favoritism.” (Romans 2:6-11 New International Version)
“Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace. Which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 The New Living Translation)
“Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death; but letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” (Romans 8:3-11 The New Living Translation)
“Happy is a man who finds wisdom and who acquires understanding for she is more profitable than silver, and her revenue is better than gold. She is more precious than jewels. Nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand, in her left riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant, and all her paths peaceful.” (Proverbs 3:5-18 Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“Furthermore, we had natural fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn’t we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live? No discipline seems enjoyable at the time but painful. Later on however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (Hebrews 12:5-11 Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration but be of good cheer… take courage… be confident… certain… undaunted! For I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.” (John 16:33 Amplified Bible)
It is the Lord’s holiness and justice that creates, empowers and maintains peace. Jesus is the world’s one and only hope for harmonious— unified relationships between God and earth’s inhabitants, between individuals and between nations.
Thanks for listening to my voice! Feel free to like and share it with your friends.
Have a peaceful day! Rita
Be the VOICE heard amidst the deafening sound of sameness!
Oh yes, peace being a state of being. Love that. I soooooo appreciate that peace that passes all understanding. The peace that only He can give. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh.
🙂
Whenever I begin losing this peace I know that I’ve taken my eyes off the Kingdom and have begun to focus on temporal affairs. It’s my alarm clock to stop the toxic thinking. Have a “peaceful” life Stacilys!
