I love epic movies such as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Braveheart, Robin Hood and Elizabeth. Brave men and women engaged in a battle to the death. Boldly confronting the evil of the day so that others are freed from tyranny. Saying no temporal rewards and yes to sacrificial living.
But chivalry isn’t dead! There are anonymous heroes walking amongst us today. Daily risking their lives so others can live safely are the men and women of the military, firefighters, and police officers. Abandoning their careers or saying no to promotions so they can spend more quality time with their children are parents lovingly giving themselves in lieu of temporal treasures. Donating their time to help those in need is an army of volunteers and salaried workers whose paycheck may be small, but their investment in the future is incalculable.
You don’t have to wield a sword to be heroic. Within each of us is the “Superman gene”. Enabling us to live fearlessly. Focusing on what needs to be done today. Intentionally living a life of honor and service.
Arise every morning. Put on your “Superman” cape. Do something to save the world!
